what happened to my website? wordpress and hosting question…?
I had a website with wordpress hosted by hostgator… I do not even know how I did that but it worked and I was working on my website, I had some google adsense on it and was trying to promote stuff on it, etc… i cancelled with hostgator yesterday and now I cannot find my website… so what is wrong? Do I need hosting? Can I still work on my site without hosting, and get hosting later because I cannot afford it right now.. what happens to the google adsense? Can anyone tell me what is the easiest thing to do here and is there any free hosting that I can sign up with? Thanks to any replies!
I hope you saved a mirror image of your entire web site before you canceled the hosting. If you did, you are good to go to put it back up anywhere you want.
The AdSense code may have to be changed as I that that is site specific. That will be easy enough to do for you as you just need to log into your Google account for that.
Might check the waybackmachine ( http://www.archive.org/web/web.php ) and see if any of your pages are logged.

i would say forget that. save a template of your site, if you have some way to see it at all, or anything. then just go to freewebs.com
you dont HAVE to pay, and your site can either be:
http://www.freewebs.com/yoursite/
or
http://www.yoursite.webs.com
i use it, and its quite nice

Hosting is what keeps your site on the web; without it, your site will cease to exist.
You’ll have to start over, and I’d recommend http://www.wordpress.com/ since you’re already familiar with wordpress.

If you have all the files and the database on your computer you can work on it. If it’s still only on hostgator, it may be gone.
