unbuntu & isp config….what u think?
I’m gonna go for linux on burst.net
i have 5 options:
fedora
centOS
debian
unbuntu
gentoo
and there’s no hosting panel
so I have tried centOS before and it’s good….but I’m thinking of switching to unbuntu and install this
http://www.ispconfig.org/
ispconfig is excellent in my opinion, it’s like the real Cpanel if not better and it’s free…I have tried it before…my site will have many vids….uploaded on the server not on youtube….Though i hear that fedora is excellent for businesses and even though I like centOS, I like switching to unbuntu….what u think? it has a big community and it’s easy to find solutions if u have any troubles…a stable version and it should be perfect…or not? I haven’t tried gentoo or debian before….
and what you think of ispconfig?
@ ron h : I don’t really need bsd
@ colinc : suse is not an option if the downstream is low……I want the most perfect OS for vids bro
@ MAQ : thanks for the correction lol 😀
btw YA rocks i posted this Q and in less than 30m I get many A…I posted the Q on digital point forums and still no A……it is considered 2 be the most active forum and u get 1 A per day as an average…..YA rocks guys 😀
Actually the correct spelling is UBUNTU, not UNBUNTU! 😛
Yes Ubuntu is really a good choice for server. I would recommend Ubuntu 10.04 for the server. It has the support until 2014!
And sorry, I do not have any idea about Ispconfig.

I have switched from CentOS to Ubuntu server and I am very happy with the move. Ubuntu is based on Debian. If you are an ISP maybe you should add BSD to the list?
Personally I vote for Ubuntu.

I always use open suse as it has very good configuration tools in Yast, plus full documentation for easy fine tuning through the config files. It is based on the commercial Novell Enterprise version. Consider the one problem you will have with video, your upstream bandwidth will be very much lower than your downstream, and that will limit your client’s download speeds. Even on systems with 2 Mbps upstream, I have had to arrange for videos to be placed on commercial hosts to get enough speed to run correctly. The ispconfig is good, it has an open suse version.
