Internet Marketing Basics – I Have My Niche Idea, Now What?
Okay, so you have a great niche market idea in mind, and you are ready to get out there and make some money. Creating a web presence for your niche comes is a few different forms. Depending on your web expertise or your pocket book will determine what you will call home for your niche. Here are a few suggestions and tips to help get your niche idea on the internet.
1. Acquire your own domain with paid hosting
Depending on availability, choosing a domain name that matches your niche/keyword is key to building traffic. For example, if your niche/keyword was “easy crochet patterns”, you would want to get a domain name as close to those words as possible, such as “easycrochetpatterns.com”. You will need to get hosting for your domain and depending on where you go, fees start for under $10.
2. Use a free web hosting site.
You can host your newly acquired domain on a free site as well, however you probably will have some sort of advertising posted on your site. This can give your web site a less professional look and may turn customers off that feel if you cannot pay to have an ad-free site, you do not have your whole heart into what you are doing. If you do not purchase your own domain, you can get a sub-domain through the free sites as well. Your web address would look something like: “easycrochetpatterns.freewebhost.com”. Again, not a very professional look, but still an option.
3. WordPress.com
You may have already heard about Web 2.0. Basically it involves bringing ease of use and real time functionality to your web presence. WordPress.com allows you to set up a sub-domain for free and have all the ease of design at your fingertips. For additional features or to host your own domain, there is a fee.
4. Create a blog
Blogging is all the rage lately. If you are not doing it, you are out of the loop! Blogger.com allows you to host your own blog, again as a sub-domain, but will a twist. Search engines love blogs and with well designed and high quality content, you can move up the search engine rankings quickly and bring more traffic to your site. Blog is short for weblog and includes almost anything kind of content – text, images, video, and audio.
5. Squidoo and Hubpages
Two more sites that are loved by the search engines are Squidoo.com and Hubpages.com. Considered online publishing ecosystems, you can have your sub-domain hosted for free. Both sites allow you to post messages, video, advertising (to make extra cash), polls, audio applications, you name it. Web pages hosted on these sites are hot right now, and search engines love them too.
Where ever you choose to host your site, do not wait until tomorrow. Get started today. I recommend you choose to host your niche/keywords at a few different places to get additional exposure. You could have your own domain, and then have a Squidoo lens or a blog linking back to it. The choices are virtually limitless. The more original quality content you post on the web, the better chances are to building traffic and then income.
