The web host should have (not free, no adverts)

Unlimited disk storage, or large number
Unlimited bandwidth, or large number
Linux server with SSH access and PHP with custom php.ini and .htaccess
Cpanel/plesk or other control panel
PHP file includes
FTP access
Good support
Hey lol768, I’d go with either HostGator or Dreamhost based on your question. Both meet the criteria you specified in your post and have great support and reliability. I have sites hosted with each of them and they have exceeded my expectations. If you use a coupon you can usually get a good deal. I’m not sure if it is still valid, but the one I used when I signed up with dreamhost is 65OFFHOSTING which will knock $65 off of their yearly hosting plan. Hostgator also has some good coupons out as well right now. Whats great with both of them too, is that they have a money back guarantee, so worst case if you dont like them, you can always cancel and you arent out anything. Here’s the site I got my coupons from in case you decide to sign up: http://internethostreviews.com/current-hosting-coupons
Good luck in your decision!

Build a Website with NO HTML
If you have been wanting a website of your own for a long time, but have been scared due to lack of HTML knowledge, you can still have a happy home on the web…and I can show you how! The first thing you need to know is that, contrary to popular belief, you do NOT need to know HTML in order to have your own website. In fact, building a website can be so easy that even a child can do it!
The first thing you need to know about building an HTML-free website is that the type of “webhost” or “host” that you need to look for is a website host with a website editor. Sometimes these are called: editors, wysiwyg(pronounced “whiz-e-wig” and an acronym for “What You See Is What You Get) editors, site builders, site editors, or even template builders. But the most important thing you need to know is that you DO NOT have to go with a “free” hosting company that forces advertisements on your page. While companies like Freewebs, Bravenet, Geocities, etc. do provide an easy sitebuilder, they don’t allow you the freedom of your own domain name, FULL control over your website, or add-free webspace. Many non-free hosting companies have easy sitebuilders as well – and you can often get this type of hosting very cheap, as low as $2 per month or possibly less!
When you use non-free website hosting you can use your own domain names, use a more professional @yourdomain.com email address, install different scripts on your website, and much more! And all of this is much easier than it sounds.
The first thing you will need to do to set up your own website, is to purchase a domain name. There are many different domain registrars on the internet. GoDaddy is the one we recommend, however a Google search for domain registration will also give you many different results. Once you have purchased your first domain, you will need to purchase website hosting. Check out my author bio for my own hosting company which offers reasonable hosting services. Once you have purchased webhosting, you will receive information from your new webhost that will contain your new nameservers. You can try to set your domain nameservers yourself by logging into your domain purchasing account, however it might be easier just to call the company you purchased the domain from and ask them to change the nameservers for you.
Once you’ve set your domain’s nameservers, the rest is easy. Login to your new website’s control panel, and login to their particular editor (you, did of course remember to purchase from a website host that had an easy sitebuilder right?) and begin building your HTML free website. Publish it to your directory, and voila! You now have your very own domain, your very own website, and full control over all of it, at very little cost and with NO knowledge of HTML. Congratulations!

Begin Your Website With a Good Domain Registrar
A domain registrar is the one whom one can say is an agent who can take your information for registration and can reserve your domain name.
If you own a company and wish to make a website, then you must be ready for the cost and effort it would require to give it a perfect look. And once you have invested, you will certainly wish to make it one of the best websites. The domain registrar that you choose must be professional so that you can get the right job. Apart from all this, you must also see that you get superb customer service so that if you are stuck with any problem, then you get it resolved quickly.
In the technology market, you get all sorts of people. There are some registrar companies who will take huge sum of money from you and will never come to you. There have been cases when clients paid a premium price for the domain name and never heard anything from the registrars.
Also in the list are cases where people had to lose their paid domain name just after using it for a small period of time. Such a mishap can prove to be really devastating for your business because it will make you lose your trust in the market as today the image of a company depends on their functional website. That is why there is a need to register your domain name with a professional and approved best domain registrar.
Selecting the best domain registrar might seem to be a daunting task to you but just a little hard work can make you relax while your whole website gets developed. You can also let your domain registrar to do web hosting for you. Getting it done with the registrar will make you achieve low cost hosting rates.
Also if you are just a beginner in a business, you won’t like to invest much into the making of your website. Similarly you won’t love to put huge money into the hosting account as well. So you would prefer having low cost web hosting but that doesn’t mean that you will have to compromise on the quality of the web hosting. By low cost web hosting, we mean to say that you can host your website at a good but cheap hosting.
There are many low cost hosting companies that can give you affordable hosting but you need to be cautious while negotiating the deal. These low cost web site hosting companies might try to lure you by offering more disk space and might try to give more bandwidth also. But innocent buyer doesn’t know that these days because of cheap internet connections, disk space and bandwidth have become cheaper, because of which hosting companies are able to make good deals out of it. So look for a low cost web site hosting company which is reliable and offers good support.
If you wish to avail services in low cost hosting, low cost web hosting, low cost web site hosting and best domain registrars, then you can try for reliance web hosting company like clickwebworks.com

Can I get a free hosting service that supports wordpress?
I was wondering if I could get a free website and then use wordpress on it. For example, say I get a free website off webs and then try to install wordpress on it. If it’s possible. Anyway, thnaks for your time 🙂 I would have any free web hoster, as long as it supports wordpress.
🙂
Certainly, there are tons of sites that will host wordpress. What you want to do is Google "free web hosting", then go to one of them an look at the table of sites. http://www.free-webhosts.com/ is one such comparison site, but that’s just an example.
You will need php, which pretty much everyone has nowadays. Also look for MySQL, which is also common, but not ubiquitous. A site with "no forced advertisements" is nice, too.
When you look at the sites, be on the lookout for "Fantastico" or "One-click installer". Sometimes a site will list a one-click installer for WordPress – then you know for sure it’s suitable.
A word of caution – ALL free hosts go down from time to time, no matter how much they deny it. As long as you’re ok with your blog being offline for a day or few days at a time, you’ll be fine.
I personally picked two hosting services that had MODEST offerings, which would be quite enough for a personal blog. The trouble with a free host that will just let anybody in to put up whatever they want, with large space and high bandwidth – well, that host won’t last. My opinion is someone will come in and try to stream illegal movies or something, and ruin it for everybody. That’s the lesson that I learned from fh50.com – they are no more.
So what did I pick? hostcell.net, because they made me write a little essay on what I planned to do with the site, and a human reviewed it. Hopefully, that discourages scammers, and fly-by-night schemes. Also I tried heliohost.org, which limits its registrations to a low number each day. At first, I couldn’t get in, but eventually I was signed up. This tells me that they’re managing their site well. Also, they had restrictions on content, no nudity period (not just porn, anything). To me, that means they’re less likely to get subpoenaed and shut down by the authorities gathering evidence on someone shady.
I need a cheap professional looking website?
I am in a band and we are looking into some cheap ways to get a website rolling… We own a domain… I guess we’re looking for the cheapest hosting and website design software?
I work on some cold fusion sites for work – but to get one of those to work for us would be way too costly…
Thanks!
www.110mb.com Free lots of bandwidth very good. 9,999 MySqL databases, about 300 gigs of bandwidth and 10 gigs of space for files. Integrated File manager. and 30 one click applications, like e107 content management systems and the newest versions of PHPBB. I’ve used it many times, reliable and FREE.
The Myth of Free Web Hosting
If you’ve been seeking a web host for any length of time, you have no doubt come across the concept of the “free” web hosting plan. If you’ve have also been reading articles, you will likely have been warned to not touch these free deals, not even with a six foot pole! But are they really as bad as experts claim?
Whether to snub free web hosting depends on the sort of website you’re creating – a very general statement sure, so let’s explore what it means.
Free sites can be fine for getting started, or if you don’t expect your website to grow beyond a certain size. But free web hosts carry a number of restrictions and limitations that you should be aware of, so let’s take a look at these, then we’ll compare them with an equivalent paid service.
Features of a Free Web Hosting Service
Allocated Domain Name -a free host often forces you to use a domain they allocate you, usually a sub-domain of their primary domain. In the rare case where you do have a choice, you are usually restricted to one domain
Reduced Bandwith – While this is not a major problem until you get serious web traffic, if you are anticipating growth, be aware that your free web hosting plan will be quite limited and you will have to switch to a plan that can handle increased traffic load in future.
Disk storage space – This will usually not exceed a few 100 MB. While not a major problem for a small hobby site, this may not accommodate a larger site with a lot of graphics and other resources.
Limited Technology – Expect the services of a free website to be extremely limited. Multimedia enabled functions like flash are rarely supported and the web server software may not be upgraded to the most current versions.
No uptime guarantee – For almost all websites, downtime is undesirable. For a business website, a lengthy period of downtime is simply unacceptable. You should definitely consider a paid service if website downtime is a serious problem for you.
Banner Ads – a hosting company may rely on sponsorship in the way of banner ads to stay in business. If this is the case, you may be required you to display advertising banners on your web pages. If you intend to run a business site, flashing banners will really cramp your style, reduce your credibility and scare away potential customers. It is definitely not the sort of image you want.
There is certainly no reason not to choose a free web hosting package, if you are fully aware of the free hosting limitations and are prepared to live with them.
But how much better can paid services be? Let’s see:
Features of a Professional Web Hosting Service
Plenty of Bandwidth and Disk Space – Most paid web hosts offer “unlimited” storage space. While there is really no such thing as “unlimited”, a paid hosting service does offer a lot more resources than a free one, which makes it a great option for an expanding business.
No Banner Advertising – A paid web hosting company will not require you to display flashy banner ads on your website. The only restrictions in terms of website content are illegal content or anything prohibited in their terms and conditions. It goes without saying you should fully understand these before signing up.
Perks – Many professional companies will offer discounts and bonuses for your business and even reward you for paying early.
Uptime Guarantee – Large amounts of uptime is be guaranteed and sometimes failure to keep this amount of uptime will sometimes result in compensation from the hosting company.
Outstanding Customer Service – You should expect nothing but exceptional customer service and support from a good paid web hosting company (in reality it varies from company to company). Staff should be available to deal with issues 24/7 and contactable on the phone or via an online chat option as well as email.
Happy Customers – Plenty of happy customers who are willing to add their testimonials.
Technology – A much greater selection of technology options that is regularly maintained by excellent support staff, with plenty of software services, upgraded to the latest versions.
If you just want to get on the internet for personal reasons by all means, don’t sneeze at the many free web hosting options available. It can be quick and convenient and some of these companies will serve you just fine. On the other hand if you’re running a serious online business then a free hosting service will look cheap and is downright risky to your business and credibility online.

Web Hosting – Common Problems and Troubleshooting
Every website that is created needs a location or an address where it can reside. In order to achieve this, the user is required to go through a hosting company. A hosting company provider the user with a web address, server space, bandwidth and a loads of other tools and applications required to host a website. In the process, users may find themselves grappling with various web hosting problems and issues that would come the fore. Listed below are a few common problems with web hosting companies that you may have to deal with:
Lack of technical and/or customer support: A quality web hosting service would offer 24/7 technical and customer support. So, no matter what time difference you are residing in, you should always have access to an open line customer service representative in order to troubleshoot technical/common problems. Make sure that a real person takes your call and it should not be an automated or recorded message on the other end. This would reflect the reliability and credibility of the web hosting company.
Pricing structures, reliability and uptime guarantee: While some web-hosting companies offer dearth cheap hosting services, their services are often deficit of 100% uptime, reliability and speed. These are a few issues that the user must brace himself from, before registering with a company that fails to guarantee a minimum uptime of 99%. Also ensure that the company is offering all the essential features and tools for smooth functioning of the website.
Hidden Costs and lack of add-on features: While the hosting company may offer all the essential tools and application support, ensure that these are offered within the price range of the package selected. Otherwise, you may find yourself shelling out additional money for add-on tools that are usually offered by other web hosting services. Ensure that no hidden costs are involved and all the essential features are in place for your website to function smoothly.
There are a few hosting companies that do not offer the “control panel” which is vital for a web hosting account. The control panel comes equipped with a whole lot of goodies including PGP secure e-mail, shopping carts; log analysis, database creation, etc.
Lack of high-tech servers: The user must ensure that the hosting company that they are about to register with employs the latest technology and expertise in order to provide superior services to their users.
It is therefore imperative to delve into the seemingly intricate aspects of the company before you open a hosting account with them. Do not get lured into cheap deals and ads like “unlimited bandwidth” etc. Weigh your requirements carefully and set yourself a monthly budget. If your website has a potential for growth or is e-commerce enabled, your website requirements would greatly differ as compared to hosting just a simple web page.
Speak to experienced users; get involved in forums and blogs and read unbiased user reviews. This would give you an idea of the level of services offered by the web hosting company.
